Aurora Library December offerings include holiday programs for all ages
AURORA — The Aurora Public Library, its branches and its bookmobile are offering the following programs in December. The Main Library is located at 1 E. Benton St., the Eola Road Branch is at 555 S. Eola Road, the West Branch is at 233 S. Constitution Drive, and the Bookmobile makes stops around the city. All of the events are free. Some events request registration; go to www.aurorapubliclibrary.org and click on “Events.”
For Families:
Holiday Open House
1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4
West Branch Library
This annual open house has the theme “Sounds of the Season” and will include a sing-along, photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, storytime on the Bookmobile, crafts for all ages and cookies. Waubonsie Valley’s Pink Notes and Suenos Latin-Jazz will provide music.
For Children:
Read Around the Tree
10 to 10:30 a.m. weekdays, Dec. 5 through 21
Eola Road Branch Children’s Program Room
Seasonal stories will be read by various library staff members. (Members of DanceWest Ballet will present the story of The Nutcracker in Room 104 of the Eola Community Center on Tuesday, Dec. 6 as part of Read Around the Tree.) No registration necessary.
Winter Holiday Storytime
10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13
Main Library Multipurpose Room
Holiday stories, rhymes and music will be shared with children ages 3 to 5. Registration is required: 630-264-4100.

Drop in and hear a holiday story. For all ages.

Use winter holiday designs to make a fuse bead gift.
For Adults:
Holiday Beading
6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1
Eola Road Branch Meeting Room
The instructor will demonstrate techniques in beading and participants will leave with two finished holiday projects. Registration is requested; 630-264-3400.
Christmas in Williamsburg
7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5
Eola Road Branch Meeting Room
Learn about the natural decorations, history and traditions of this historic Virginia landmark. Discover how to add Williamsburg-style touches to holiday celebrations.
1949: Downtown Aurora through the eyes of a Paper Carrier
2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18
West Branch Multipurpose Room
Back by popular demand, John Hendricks will conduct a holiday-themed walk through his paper route and introduce the audience to the shops and businesses of Aurora’s not-so-distant past.
For Seniors:
Books, Bingo and Bling!
10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14
Eola Road Branch
Bring a new or gently used holiday decoration to swap. Find out about books you can read to or give your grandchildren. Bring a friend and enjoy a snack.
Bilingual:
Family Film: Toy Story 3
2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10
Main Multipurpose Room
This film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. Free popcorn. All ages. Register by calling 630-264-4100.
On the Bookmobile:

Church Road and Edison Avenue Bookmobile stop
Enjoy cookies, cocoa and crafts with Mrs. Claus and her crafty elves.
