AURORA – The Third Annual Aurora Public Library Teen Talent Show Competition is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Copley Theatre in downtown Aurora.
Returning this year will be Ty Bentli, a Los Angeles-based disc jockey who formerly was the afternoon deejay on 103.5 KissFM. Joining him will be Scotty “Special K” Kay, nighttime on-air personality and music director of 103.5 KissFM.
Bentli emceed the event last year, surprising the audience by giving away two tickets to an upcoming Black Eyed Peas concert.
Dancers, singers and bands are encouraged to audition live on one of the following dates:
Students entering grades 7 through 12 are welcome to audition. Performance time is limited to 3-1/2 minutes. Application forms will be available at the auditions and are available on the Aurora Public Library website, www.aurora.lib.il.us, on the TeenSpace blog. (Parental permission is required.)
One overall winner will receive a trophy. Admission is free.
Members of Aurora Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board will act as judges along with a special, yet-to-be-announced guest judge. Last year’s winner, Hayley Darukhanavala, will return as a guest performer.
Copley Theatre is located in North Island Center, directly across Galena Boulevard from the Paramount Theatre.
The TeenTalent Show Competition is part of the Aurora Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, “A Midsummer Knight’s Read,” which runs from June 6 through Aug. 6.
