AURORA — The Aurora Public Library’s first “Catch a Bunch of Authors” local author fair last year was a success with 50 authors, and this year’s event will be even bigger with more than 60 authors and a new feature: a BookBuzz Panel Discussion with publishers.

The local author fair is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora, and will feature authors who have published works in a variety of genres: fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, young adult, historical fiction and Christian fiction.

New this year is the Book Buzz Panel Discussion at 2 p.m. Representatives from Medallion Press, Stallion Books, Darkside Publishing and Sourcebooks will talk about new fall releases.
The public is invited to this free event to meet authors and publishers, purchase books and gather authors’ signatures. Book sales will be provided by Barnes & Noble, Geneva.

The fair will feature, among others:

• Jade Lee, writing as herself and as Kathy Lyons
Lee writes historical romantic, exotic tales as Jade Lee for Berkley Sensation Publishers and “light, funny sexy” contemporary romance for Harlequin Blaze under the name Kathy Lyons. As Lee and Lyons, she has written more than 30 books. She lives in Champaign.

• Earl Sewell
Sewell is a national bestselling African-American author who gained popularity as a writer of adult contemporary fiction for Sepia/BET Publications and Strebor Books. He currently is writing the “Keysha” series for the Kimani Tru imprint for teens. (The Kimani Tru line was started by Harlequin to speak to young African-Americans between the ages of 14 and 20.) Sewell’s five young adult novels have been successful locally as well as internationally.
Sewell has written a total of 17 novels over the past eleven years. His books have held steady on regional bestseller lists and have been featured in many publications including The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, Upscale Magazine, Jet Magazine and Black Expressions Magazine.

• Jim and Wynette Edwards
The Edwardses are Aurora residents who specialize in writing about local history for Arcadia Publishing. They have coauthored books on Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, St. Charles, Elgin and Kane County, among others.

• Tad and France Mitchell also are Aurora residents who write as a team. They have written a children’s book titled, “Where is the Sears Tower?” (Tad is the writer; France, the illustrator.) The book tells the story of Peter, a pigeon who travels to Chicago to visit his grandfather who lives at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). Along the way, Peter passes city landmarks and discovers his inner compass. Each painting except the first contains a part of the Willis Tower.
