CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

MAIN LIBRARY Face Painting

Friday, June 10, 2 to 4 p.m.

ALL LOCATIONS Live Auditions for the 3rd Annual Teen Talent Show

Main – Wednesday, June 22, 6 to 8 p.m.

Eola Road Branch – Thursday, June 23, 1 to 3 p.m.

West Branch – Saturday, June 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Teens are welcome to audition for the 3rd Annual Teen Talent Competition. Auditions must be 3-1/2 minutes or shorter. Entrants should bring a background track unless accompanied by live music. Download a form from the Teen Space Blog on the Aurora Public Library website, www.aurora.lib.il.us or from the Facebook page: Aurora Public Library Teen Space. The competition will be staged live at Copley Theatre in downtown Aurora at 2 p.m. on Aug. 13. Emcees will be radio personalities Ty Bentli and Special K.

WEST BRANCH LEGO Castle Contest for Tweens and Teens

Tuesday, June 21, 2 to 4 p.m.

The library will provide the LEGOs for building. Teens and tweens entering grades 5 through 12 are welcome to compete. A prize goes to the best castle. Free. Registration is encouraged; call 630-264-3600.

 

MAIN LIBRARY Catapult Building Competition

Tuesday, July 12, 6 to 8 p.m.

Location: 1 E. Benton St., Aurora

WEST BRANCH Red Cross CPR for Teens

Saturday, July 30, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location: 233 S. Constitution Drive, Aurora

Instructor Megan McCarthy will present this CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) course with lectures, interactive video demonstrations and hands-on training. Registration is required and begins June 30. For ages 12 to 18. Free. Bring a sack lunch. Call 630-264-3600.

 

WEST BRANCH Mock ACT

Thursday, Aug. 4, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Location: 233 S. Constitution Drive

Kaplan Test Prep provides a proctored practice combination ACT test for eighth graders and up. Results will be given on Monday, Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to attend the results session. Free. Register July 5 through 28. Free. Call 630-264-3600.

 

WEST BRANCH Medieval Times Crafts for Teens and Tweens

EOLA ROAD Birds: Up Close and Personal and Walk around Waubonsie Lake

Wednesday, June 8, 10 to 11 a.m.

Location: 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora

Bird Watching experts Kathy and Bob Andrini will talk about birds residents may recognize from bird feeders, river and ponds in their neighborhoods. EOLA ROAD Lighthouses of North America and Elsewhere

Tuesday June 14, 7 to 8 p.m.

Location: 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora

Visit more than 50 historic lighthouses. The “tour” will take participants to Scotland, Italy, Australia, the United States and Canada. Attendees will learn lighthouse history and hear interesting stories about the structures. Free. Call 630-264-3400 for information.

 

WEST BRANCH Woolly Bully Knitting Group
