House Histories

Before we begin, we would like to point out that the vast majority of instances where our patrons come in looking for this type of information (80 to 85%) are the direct result of odd occurrences taking place in the home.  Do you think your house may be haunted?  Believe us, you are not alone…

Preliminary Questions To Start With:

  1. When was the house built?
  2. Was this the first building on the site?
  3. Who lived here first? Did they build the house?
  4. Who else has lived here through the years?
  5. What did the house look like when it was built?
    1. Style of architecture
    2. What color/colors was it?
    3. What changes have been made through the years?
    4. Are there any old photographs of my house?
  6. What were the neighborhood and the city like when the house was built?
    1. How many houses were on the block already?
    2. Were there shops or businesses in the area?
    3. What kinds of jobs did the original owners have?
    4. Were they part of an ethnic group?
    5. What schools and churches were nearby?
