Aurora Public Library Laptop/Chromebook Lending Guidelines
Aurora Public Library is pleased to offer a laptop lending service to library customers.
Laptops are available at the Courtesy Services/Circulation Desk.
Laptops may be used inside the library only.
Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Customers are allowed to borrow one laptop at a time for two hours (120) minutes. An extension may be granted if no customers are waiting for one.
The late fee for a Chromebook returned after the time due is $.25 cents per hour with maximum of $5.
Checkout begins when the library opens. All chrome books need to be returned to a Courtesy Services/Circulation Desk 30 minutes prior to closing.
A laptop may be checked out by a customer (11 years old or older) with a valid Aurora Public Library card.
A customer whose card is blocked from computer usage at the library cannot borrow a laptop.
Wireless printing is available at the rate for public computers (10 cents per page in black & white). Staff will assist customers who wish to print.
Customers must use headphones (not supplied) for any application using sound. Earbuds may be purchased at the Courtesy Services/Circulation Desk for $1.50.
Customers may not install software on laptops.
Customers may not alter or delete any settings or configurations.
Customers are responsible for damage to or loss of laptops and accessories as a result of accident, theft, misuse or neglect.
Customers are expected to report loss of or damage to the laptop or accessories to Courtesy/Circulation desk staff. Replacement cost for a damaged laptop may be between $200 and $300.
Customers are responsible for any violation of Computer User Agreement and all other applicable library policies.
