The privacy and security of your personal information is important to us. Information in your library account is confidential and protected as described in the library’s Confidentiality Policy. 
Please read the following information carefully to understand what you agree to when you apply for an APLD library card. 

Your information may be shared with a contracted third party to assist in retrieval of library items and to verify your personal identity to open a library account for you.  
We’ll use the email address you give us to send your library card number and PIN for the account.  
We'll use the information we collect from you to verify your eligibility for a library card, to communicate with you about items you have borrowed or requested, and to inform you about library services and programs. 
The library maintains computer usage logs for a brief and limited period of time.  Information about computer usage and the material you check out is protected by the Illinois Library Records Confidentiality Act. 
The library collects demographic data on an optional basis to hold ourselves accountable in the service we provide the community. The library does not use personally identifiable information provided to us online except in the aggregate, in order to design services that are responsive to community need. 

By completing this online application, you are consenting to let the library use a secure, trusted, third-party vendor to verify your information. If we are unable to verify your identity through our vendor, we may ask for additional information before finalizing your account.
