Chutzpah Girls
Friday, May 1 - Sunday, May 31
Santori Library Atrium
Based on the bestselling book Chutzpah Girls: 100 Tales of Daring Jewish Women by Julie Silverstein and Tami Schossberg Pruwer, this exhibit celebrates Jewish women whose bold actions, resilience, and leadership shaped history and culture across time and place. From biblical heroines to modern change makers, the stories—paired with portraits by Jewish women artists from around the world—highlight the lasting power of Jewish women’s voices and achievements. You’ll meet well-known figures like Golda Meir, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Anne Frank, along with many unsung heroes whose chutzpah helped shape Jewish history.
This banner exhibit is presented by JCC Chicago. In 2026, JCC Chicago celebrates the Year of the Chutzpah Girl, bringing a vibrant collection of stories and portraits honoring Jewish women to schools, libraries, community spaces, and organizations across Illinois.
